"It is rare to find a program that provides such a perfect mixture of structure and support and dynamic exploration. It is a perfect “next step” for patients coming out of our hospital program. I trust that they will get both the living experience they need to promote life skills, while also receiving the opportunity to understand more about themselves and what drives their symptoms."

SUPPORTIVE COMMUNITY

Because our clients live and work in close proximity to one another, it is natural for friendships and alliances to be forged. It is by making these connections with one another that a sense of community evolves. Individuals who may have previously felt socially isolated find they can learn how to ask for help as well as extend themselves to others. We believe that people who are able to develop a successful social network are more able to avoid future setbacks. Romantic and exclusive relationships with other program participants at the Inn are prohibited. Such relationships generally interfere with the focus on treatment and have a negative impact on the milieu.

At the Inn, our clients participate in regular activities such as:

  • Weekly Community Meetings
  • Meals with food prepared by the clients themselves
  • Special events such as Beach Day, Camp-outs, and our Spruce Mountain Inn Day Celebration
  • "Check-ins" among clients, and between clients and staff, allow people the opportunity and encouragement to identify needs and ask for help
