SPRUCE MOUNTAIN INN STAFF

Sharon Case Manager Sharon (Skye) Forest, MA. Skye's commitment to clients, professionalism and sense of joy has been a meaningful part of the success of many clients since she joined the staff in 1985. Her educational credentials include a BS from Old Dominion University in Virginia and an MA in Special Education from Johnson State College in Vermont. Prior to coming to the Inn, she had been employed in a variety of mental health settings as a Case Manager, Counselor and Staff Trainer. At the Inn, Skye helps clients set personal goals and coordinates services to help achieve them.
Lynn Rockwell, M.Ed., first joined the staff in 1992 and has worked in a variety of positions including Residential Counselor, Group Leader, Family Outreach Coordinator and Case Manager. In 1999 Lynn left to focus on her small goat farm and work part-time as a Certified High School Guidance Counselor. Lynn returned to the staff in September of 2002 as a part-time case manager. She has worked for over 25 years in a variety of mental health settings and was awarded the Vermont Mental Health Director's Individual Award in 1991. Lynn brings a wealth of experience combined with natural compassion and strong advocacy skills that makes her a uniquely gifted professional.
Corina Rose, MACP, LCMHC, joined Spruce Mountain Inn in December 2000. In addition, she is a part-time clinical instructor in the Family Practice Department at the School of Medicine at the University of Vermont. She has been in private practice for over twenty years. In private practice she works extensively with clients who have dual diagnoses, PTSD, abuse histories and sexual identity issues. Corina was also on staff at Springhill, a retreat center that specialized in intensive weekend workshops to help participants access and release emotions. Her clinical orientation is eclectic with the goal of assisting her clients in having a productive life. Corina is very interested in outdoor adventures. She likes to dance, hike, snowshoe, mountain climb and kayak. She was a member with the Burlington Taiko Drumming Group for nine years. She brings much energy and commitment to her clients and Spruce Mountain Inn.
Pamela Fadness, M.D., consulting psychiatrist, affiliated with the Inn in July 2007. For more than 15 years, Dr. Fadness has practiced in a variety of clinical settings which have included day treatment programs, community mental health centers, state psychiatric hospitals, a county jail and outpatient programs for children and families. Dr. Fadness is currently dividing her professional time between Spruce Mountain Inn and a private practice in downtown Burlington. Dr. Fadness was born and raised on Long Island (New York) and received her M.D. from the State University of New York at Syracuse.
In addition to completing the University of Vermont/Fletcher Allen Health Care Psychiatry Residency Program in Burlington, Vermont, Dr. Fadness completed an internship in medicine at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario and was the first Fellow in Public Psychiatry in the Division of Public Psychiatry at the University of Vermont/Fletcher Allen Health Care, a program which she also helped develop.
Dr. Fadness enjoys living in Vermont, family and friends, gardening and outdoor activities, especially our beautiful Vermont winters.
Teri Lawrence, M.Ed. has been working with Spruce Mountain Inn since 1986 as a Residential Counselor. She currently functions in the capacities of a Case Manager and as the Vocational/Educational Coordinator. She has a BS in Human Services/Psychology a M.Ed. from UVM with a focus on school-to-work transition. Prior to joining SMI staff, Teri was employed in a variety of settings in the mental health/education field including community mental health, adolescents at risk programs and the Vermont State Hospital. Teri has a great love of the outdoors. She enjoys gardening, running, hiking and swimming. Her long history with Spruce Mountain Inn and her experience in many roles here enable her to make a unique contribution to her clients and her colleagues. Roberta Garland, MSW, LICSW joined Spruce Mountain Inn in October 2006. She has been involved in supporting and advocating for young people and adults in a variety of settings for more than 20 years. Before coming to Spruce Mountain Inn she worked for 9 ½ years at the Community College of Vermont as coordinator in a state-wide program that provided social work services and financial support to low-income single parents pursuing college degrees. She received a BA in Human Services from the University of Massachusetts and a MSW from the University of Vermont. When she isn't working, Roberta spends as much time as she can in the out-of-doors skiing, hiking, biking, camping and vegetable gardening.

Mary Jean McKelvy, BA, MA, LCC comes to us in the summer of 2006 with a rich background in both community based and inpatient mental health and addictions treatment. She recently moved to Vermont from Maine where she developed the state's first program for adults who have experienced both substance abuse and psychiatric issues. As a teacher/trainer for many years, she has enjoyed the stimulation and challenge of both educational and clinical work. With expertise in the effects of sexual abuse and other trauma, Mary Jean is keenly interested in the complex intersection of trauma, addictions and mental health. She is also a passionate "outdoors woman" who is fascinated with animal behavior and loves to walk, hike and kayak in the area's mountainous beauty. She has done some equine-assisted therapy and enjoys being around horses. When she can fit it in, Mary Jean also practices yoga, gardens madly, and is a sometimes singer/musician.

Addiction Therapist, Jo-Ann Lowell, M.Ed., LADC, joined Spruce Mountain Inn in May 2007. She recently relocated from Connecticut after working in both community based and inpatient addiction and mental health programs for 10 years. Jo-Ann is particularly proud of her work in an outreach program for the homeless in a program she helped develop and has enjoyed working with all populations both individually and in groups. Jo-Ann's client centered approach to addictions uses the 12 Step Model, S.M.A.R.T. Recovery, Emotions Anonymous and Recovery Action Plans. She earned her Masters in Counseling Psychology from Cambridge College in Springfield, MA and also has certifications/licensure in co-occurring diagnoses and occupational therapy (COOD, COTA/L). In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her dog, family and friends in the outdoors.
