Supportive Community
placeholder

Because our clients live and work in close proximity to one another, it is natural for friendships and alliances to be forged. It is by making these peer connections that a sense of community evolves. Individuals who may have previously felt socially isolated find they can learn how to ask for help as well as extend themselves to others. We believe that people who are able to develop a successful social network are more able to avoid future setbacks. Romantic and exclusive relationships with other program participants at the Inn are prohibited. Such relationships generally interfere with the focus on treatment and have a negative impact on the milieu.

At the Inn, our clients participate in regular community building activities such as:

  • Weekly Community Meetings
  • Meals with food prepared by program participants themselves
  • Special events such as Beach Day, Camp-outs, and our Spruce Mountain Inn Day Celebration
  • "Check-ins" with clients and staff, allow people the opportunity and encouragement to identify needs and ask for help
