The Inn itself can house up to twelve individuals. Clients live in comfortable double or single rooms in a large house that previously was the President's House at Goddard College. Public areas are comfortably furnished and program participants are invited to bring decorations and other personal items to make their bedrooms homelike. Program participants also take part in cooking classes and/or meal planning and preparation; however, a professionally trained chef prepares many of our lunches and dinners. Once a client has completed a successful period of residence on the premises, he or she can apply for a position in one of our three monitored on-site apartments, our unsupervised Greatwood Lodge, or a monitored independent living situation in the Central Vermont community. Once clients achieve their individual goals for treatment and independent living, they may be ready to leave the program and return home or elsewhere. Those who choose to remain local receive an appropriate but reduced level of maintenance services as part of our Apartment Program. We are happy to help with referrals for aftercare services in other locations outside of Central Vermont once services from Spruce Mountain Inn have ended. ![]()

"A solid foundation was given to me at Spruce Mountain Inn. I have carried through with my program and am very pleased to report that my life is now happier, more solid, more directed and more peaceful than ever before. I have highly recommended SMI to counselors, and friends, who need what I have been so lovingly given. I would recommend SMI to anyone of any age who wants help, who is willing to work hard for themselves and who wants to learn to live productively, with self respect, self love and a real sense of respecting and loving others.” Former Client, Vermont |
